This enrichment project used project-based learning to help Zoey and Arav think creatively about real-world problems. These students planned and designed a hotel for people experiencing homelessness, imagining a safe place where individuals and families could stay while permanent homes were being built. They began by sketching rough designs on paper and then experimented with 3D digital modelling to explore their ideas. After trying different approaches, they chose to create a detailed painted design of their hotel, carefully labelling important features. Zoey and Arav also thought about how the space should work and created a list of rules for the hotel and the pool to help keep everyone safe and comfortable. To extend their project, they later built 3D models of houses designed for people transitioning out of homelessness, showing how residents could move from temporary shelter into stable housing. This project encouraged creativity, problem-solving, empathy, and thoughtful planning.
Here Zoey works on a model home. When the homes are finished, the homeless can move out of the hotel and into a brand new home.
The homes have two floors and a bedroom in the attic. The attic even has a skylight! Zoey and Arav hope these homes they designed and built will make a family very happy. There is enough room for 6 or 7 people to live comfortably.
Ariel Wesley-Coaster created an informative project about helping dogs, protecting nature, and improving community health and safety. Ariel explained many ways people can care for dogs by providing food, water, exercise, blankets, shelter, veterinary care, and safe spaces. The project also included information about helping stray and disabled dogs, sponsoring homeless dogs, and preventing parasites and illnesses. Ariel researched dog safety, including what to do if a dog becomes aggressive and how to help anxious dogs feel calm and secure.
In addition to dog care, Ariel focused on environmental responsibility and protecting nature. The project discussed reducing pollution, recycling, reusing materials, conserving water, planting trees and flowers, building bird homes, helping pollinators, composting, and cleaning garbage from the community. Ariel also explained how litter and pollution can harm animals and ecosystems.
The project demonstrated strong connections between animal care, environmental stewardship, and community responsibility. Ariel showed creativity, empathy, and problem-solving skills while researching real-world ways to improve the well-being of both dogs and nature.
